Looking for people to hangout with in Karachi?

Skip awkward group chats. Connect with verified locals for cafes, padel, board games, and weekend activities.

Let's be honest: in Karachi, "hangout" usually means one thing. Somebody picks a cafe, everyone orders the same pasta, you take a photo of the latte art, and by 11 PM you're debating whether to go to Burns Road or Do Darya for round two.

Food is a big part of Karachi's personality, and we love it. But if your weekends have turned into one long cafe-hopping loop, this guide is for you. Karachi has smash rooms, go-kart tracks, paintball arenas, trampoline parks, snorkeling spots, heritage houses, science museums and a whole lot more. Most people just don't know where to find them.

Here are 22 things to do in Karachi that have nothing to do with cafes or food places, with real locations for each one.

Quick Answer: The best non-food things to do in Karachi are smashing things at Breaking Point rage room (DHA Phase 8), go karting at First Karting Centre (Super Highway) or Omni Karting Circuit (Korangi Creek), paintball at Platoon Paintball (North Walk, North Nazimabad), jumping at the trampoline park in Ocean Mall, padel in DHA and Clifton, thrifting at Light House and Zainab Market, snorkeling at Churna Island (November to March), a beach hut BBQ at French Beach, Hawksbay or Sandspit, and exploring TDF Ghar and TDF Magnifi Science Centre. Free options include pickup basketball at Aram Bagh, art galleries, long drives to Sea View and night-time petrol pump runs. If your friends keep cancelling, post a plan on WithMe (withmeapp.pk) and verified people nearby can join you.

Adrenaline & Action

1. Smash Room (Rage Room) in Karachi: Breaking Point, DHA Phase 8

Had a terrible week? Pay to break plates, bottles, old electronics and furniture with a bat or a crowbar. Breaking Point started in DHA Phase 6, Lahore, and opened in Karachi at Zulfiqar Commercial, DHA Phase 8.

  • Timings: Tuesday to Sunday, roughly 4 PM to midnight (closed Mondays).
  • Group size: Up to 7 people per session. They give you full safety gear, a speaker for your playlist and a tripod for filming.
  • Pro tip: They give you sticky notes to write on the breakables. Write down your boss's emails, your ex's name or your exam syllabus, then smash it.
  • Search for: "smash room Karachi" or "rage room Karachi" on Instagram to see their latest packages.

2. Go Karting in Karachi

Karachi has more than one proper go-kart track:

  • First Karting Centre (Super Highway): Pakistan's first go-kart track, running since 2004. It's behind Baqai Medical University near the Toll Plaza. Expect around PKR 1,000 for 10 minutes in the day and a bit more at night.
  • Omni Karting Circuit (Korangi Creek): A 1.5 km track at the Airmen Golf Club & Recreation Park, built to CIK international standards. It has adult Sodi karts and junior karts for ages 7 to 14. It costs more, but it feels like real racing.
  • Dreamworld Resort (Gulshan-e-Maymar): Has a go-kart track, so you can pair a race with the pool.

Best for: Settling who in your group is actually the best driver. Bring the receipts to the group chat.

3. Paintball Shooting in Karachi

  • Platoon Paintball & Extreme Sports Arena (North Walk, North Nazimabad): Near Hyderi and the Green Line BRT corridor. It's one of the few malls in Karachi with a paintball arena.
  • Strikeforce Paintball Arena: A Karachi paintball operator that also does events and corporate bookings.
  • The Arena (Karsaz): The classic family entertainment centre, which has offered paintball alongside bowling and ice skating.

Season tip: Outdoor paintball is best from October to March, when the weather is bearable in full gear. Wear old clothes, and expect a bruise or two to brag about.

4. Bounce: Trampoline Parks in Karachi

Karachi's best-known trampoline park is inside Ocean Mall, Clifton. It has connected trampolines, foam pits and dodgeball courts. It's great for a sugar-free way to burn energy, and it's surprisingly fun for adults who haven't jumped on anything since childhood.

  • Wear: Grip socks (usually sold at the counter) and comfortable clothes.
  • Go when: Weekday evenings are calmer. Weekends are full of kids' birthday parties.

5. Soap Soccer (Soapy Football) in Karachi

Picture futsal, but on an inflatable pitch covered in soap and water, where nobody can stand up for more than three seconds. Soap Soccer in Pakistan offers setups in Karachi that you can book for a group, a corporate day or a university event. Soap football pitches also show up at Karachi carnivals and sports festivals like TheUnion Sports Festival.

  • Bring: A change of clothes, a towel and a bag for your wet stuff.
  • Ideal group: 10 or more people, so you can run proper 5-a-side matches.

Sports You Can Play This Weekend

6. Padel in Karachi

Padel is Karachi's fastest-growing sport, and it's always played in doubles, which makes it very social. Popular courts include Smash Padel (Clifton Block 4), Padel 360 (DHA Phase 8), SportOn (Clifton) and Legends Arena (Korangi / DHA link). Court rent is usually around PKR 3,500 to 6,000 per hour, split between four players.

For prices, timings and booking tips, read our full guide: Best Padel Courts in Karachi.

7. Balling: Pickup Basketball in Karachi

Karachi has a small but loyal basketball scene, and most outdoor courts are free:

  • Aram Bagh Court (Shahrah-e-Liaquat, near Burns Road): A full court with lights, and a known spot for pickup games.
  • Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim Court (behind Abdullah Shah Ghazi): Multiple courts near the sea breeze.
  • CDGK / KMC Sports Complex (Kashmir Road): Indoor and outdoor courts. Some may charge an entry fee.
  • DOHS Phase 1 & 2 and NED University also have courts. Access depends on who you know.

Pro tip: Show up around sunset, ask "next?", and you'll be in a game within 20 minutes. If you'd rather play futsal or cricket, see our turf, futsal & box cricket guide.

8. Bowling, Ice Skating & Wall Climbing at The Arena

The Arena (Karsaz, Shahrah-e-Faisal) has been a Karachi classic for over 20 years: bowling lanes, an ice rink, a climbing wall and arcade games, all in one place. It's perfect when your group can't agree on one activity. For more indoor options like escape rooms and laser tag, see our indoor gaming, bowling & escape rooms guide.

9. Get a Free Gym Trial

Here's a trick many people don't know: most big gyms in DHA, Clifton, PECHS, Bahadurabad and Gulshan will give you a free trial session or a trial day if you walk in and ask for one before you sign up. Gym-hop with a friend on a Saturday, try the equipment and the classes (CrossFit, boxing, Zumba), and only pay for the one you like.

  • What to say at the front desk: "I'm thinking of joining. Can I try a session first?"
  • Bring: Your CNIC, since some gyms ask for ID even for a trial.

Want someone to keep you accountable? Here's how to find gym buddies in Karachi.

Culture, Art & Learning

10. Visit Art Galleries in Karachi

Most Karachi galleries are free to enter, air-conditioned and quiet, which makes them good for a calm date or a solo afternoon:

  • Chawkandi Art (Clifton): Open since 1985, and one of the city's most respected galleries.
  • Canvas Gallery: Contemporary art, usually with two or more new shows a month.
  • Sanat Initiative: A modern space showing young Pakistani artists.
  • Koel Gallery: Next to Koel Café, with great textiles and craft shows.
  • VM Art Gallery and Clifton Art Gallery: Good for rotating exhibitions.
  • Sadequain Gallery at Frere Hall: Look up at Sadequain's famous ceiling mural, one of his last works.

Pro tip: Follow galleries on Instagram. Exhibition opening nights are free, social and full of interesting people. When the Karachi Biennale is on, the whole city turns into a gallery. Want to make art too? See our art, pottery & craft workshops guide.

11. TDF Ghar: Step Into 1930s Karachi

TDF Ghar is a restored 1930s house in Jamshed Quarters, just off M.A. Jinnah Road, run by The Dawood Foundation as a living museum. Inside you'll find typewriters, old chess sets, gramophones, vintage books and the original mosaic floor tiles. Climb to the rooftop for a great view of Mazar-e-Quaid.

  • Best for: History lovers, photographers and anyone who has heard their Nani say "purana Karachi kuch aur tha."
  • Check: Their social pages for talks, workshops and heritage events before you go.

12. TDF Magnifi Science Centre

TDF MagnifiScience Centre was Pakistan's first big interactive science museum. It's at Plot 1, RY-15, Railway Quarter, near Saddar. Adults will enjoy the hands-on exhibits about physics, optics, sound and the human body just as much as kids. You can easily spend 3 hours here.

  • Timings (check before going): Monday to Thursday 9 AM – 5 PM, closed Friday, Saturday & Sunday 10 AM – 7:30 PM.
  • Tickets: Around PKR 800 – 900 for a limited pass, or PKR 1,300 – 1,400 for the full building, including the third floor. Weekends cost a little more.

13. Poetry Readings & Open Mics in Karachi

Karachi's spoken-word scene is small but alive:

  • Poetry Slam Karachi: A community of young poets that runs slam nights. They have performed at spaces like Funoon Forum at Habitt City.
  • T2F (The Second Floor): A long-running cultural space that hosts talks, readings and open mics.
  • Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi: Hosts mushairas, theatre and the yearly Aalmi Urdu Conference.
  • Karachi Literature Festival: The city's biggest literary weekend, with free sessions and author talks.

You don't have to perform. Going to listen counts, and the crowd is very welcoming. Book lovers should also see our guide to book clubs and literary communities in Karachi.

14. Watch a Movie (the Right Way)

Movie night never gets old, and Karachi has a cinema for every mood:

  • Nueplex: The Place (DHA Phase 8) and Rashid Minhas Road. Recliner screens, plus open-air screenings from time to time.
  • Cinepax: Ocean Mall, Clifton.
  • Atrium Cinemas: Saddar, close to Zainab Market. You can pair it with thrifting (see below).
  • Capri Cinema (M.A. Jinnah Road): An old-school single screen, best for loud, whistling, fully desi Eid releases.

Pro tip: Weekday matinee tickets are usually cheaper. Book online on Friday to avoid the queue.

Shopping, Driving & Late-Night Missions

15. Thrift Shopping in Karachi

Thrifting (the cool new name for landa) is one of the cheapest hangouts in the city:

  • Light House (off M.A. Jinnah Road): Karachi's original landa hub, with used jackets, sweaters, jeans and shoes. Bargain hard.
  • Zainab Market (Saddar): Export-surplus clothes, mostly new with small defects, at very low prices.
  • Sunday Bazaar: A huge weekly market that sells everything from clothes to plants to antiques. It gets very crowded, so go early.
  • Weekend Bachat Bazaar (Clifton): A smaller, easier weekend option.
  • Instagram thrift stores: Search "thrift Karachi" or "preloved Karachi". Many hold pop-up sales and flea markets.

Pro tip: In November and December, Light House is full of winter jackets. Go with a friend who will tell you honestly when something looks bad.

16. Long Drives in Karachi

Sometimes the best plan is no plan, just a full tank and a good playlist:

  • Sea View → Do Darya → Khayaban-e-Ittehad: The classic. Windows down, sea breeze, chai at the end.
  • Mai Kolachi Bypass → Port Grand area: City lights on the water at night.
  • Mauripur → Hawksbay → Sandspit → Mubarak Village: The coastal road for a sunrise or sunset. It's quiet and beautiful, but don't go after dark with just one car.
  • Super Highway → Bahria Town: Wide roads and night lights, and you can add go karting or Adventure Land.

Safety tip: Share your live location, keep the fuel above half and stick to main roads late at night.

17. Petrol Pump Convenience Store Run

A peak Karachi night activity: it's 1 AM, nobody is sleepy and somebody says "chalo Shell chalte hain." Petrol pump marts like Shell Select, TotalEnergies' Bonjour and PSO's Shop Stop stock imported chocolates, energy drinks, ice cream and random snacks you won't find at the local kiryana. Many on Shahrah-e-Faisal, Khayaban-e-Shamsheer, Clifton and DHA stay open very late, and some are open 24 hours.

The challenge: Everyone gets PKR 1,000 and five minutes. Best haul wins.

Out-of-City Adventures

18. Bahria Adventure Land

Bahria Adventure Land in Bahria Town Karachi (Jinnah Avenue, off the M-9 Motorway) is one of Pakistan's biggest theme parks. It has roller coasters like Rail Blazers, a Power Drop tower, a pirate ship ride, a dino park and dancing fountains.

  • Plan: A full afternoon to evening. It's about an hour from central Karachi, so carpool.
  • Tickets: Check current packages before going. Unlimited-ride passes are the best value.

19. Beach Hut BBQ in Karachi

A beach hut BBQ is a Karachi tradition: rent a hut, light the coals and stay until sunrise.

  • French Beach: A gated, quieter beach with clear water, and a favourite for overnight stays.
  • Hawksbay & Turtle Beach: Lots of huts, many with kitchens, generators and lounges.
  • Sandspit: Close to the city. Good for a day trip.

Cost: A hut usually costs around PKR 15,000 – 25,000+ per day, more on weekends and holidays. Split between 10 to 20 people, that's cheaper than a fancy dinner. Bring your own coal, skewers and marinated meat, plus a speaker, a football and a generator plan.

Safety: Don't swim in the monsoon months (roughly June to August), when the sea is closed for good reason.

20. Churna Island: Snorkeling & Cliff Jumping

Churna Island is Karachi's best-kept secret. It's a rocky island off the coast near the Sindh–Balochistan border, with clear water, coral, fish and cliffs you can jump from.

  • How to get there: Drive about 1.5 to 2 hours to Mubarak Village, then take a boat (about 1 hour) to the island. Most people go with a dive or tour operator that provides the boat, life jackets and snorkeling gear.
  • Season: Snorkeling and diving are open to the public from about November to March, so the season starts now.
  • Bring: Sunscreen, water shoes, snacks and a waterproof phone pouch.

Wildcard Fun

21. Random Event Crashing

Karachi has something happening almost every weekend. You just have to look:

  • Frere Hall hosts book fairs, flea markets and festivals.
  • Arts Council Karachi runs theatre, music nights and exhibitions.
  • University festivals at IBA, Habib University, NED and SZABIST often welcome outsiders.
  • Ticketwala, Instagram and Facebook Events: Search "Karachi events this weekend".
  • Startup meetups, run clubs, comedy nights and launch parties are often free if you RSVP.

Show up, say yes to the free stuff and talk to strangers. That's how good stories (and friendships) start.

22. Wedding Crashing (Karachi Edition)

Karachi's wedding season runs from roughly December to February, and shaadi halls on Rashid Minhas Road, Shaheed-e-Millat and the lawns around the city light up every night. Wedding crashing is a well-known Karachi dare.

Our unofficial rules if you dare:

  1. Dress the part. Shalwar kameez with a waistcoat helps you blend in.
  2. Never take gifts, envelopes or photos of the family.
  3. If someone asks, be honest and leave politely.
  4. Big, crowded walimas are easier than small mehndis where everyone knows everyone.

(We don't officially recommend this, and you might get thrown out. Mostly we're telling you it's a thing Karachiites do.)

Can't Find People to Go With? Use WithMe

Most of these activities need a group. You need 4 for padel, 10 for soap soccer, at least 6 for paintball and 15 to split a beach hut. And plans in Karachi always seem to die in the group chat.

WithMe (withmeapp.pk) is an app made in Pakistan for finding verified people near you who want to do the same activity:

  1. Post your plan: "Going to Breaking Point rage room in DHA Phase 8 this Saturday at 8 PM. We're 3, need 2 more."
  2. Review requests: Check verified profiles, interests and bios before you accept anyone.
  3. Meet and go: Split the cost, have a great time and maybe make a new friend.

It works for one-off plans like Churna Island trips, and for weekly ones like Sunday basketball. For more ideas, read fun things to do for 2 people in Karachi and our weekend plan for Karachi.
